Freaking out
DH sisters kids had them we didn't know I thought I had them when I was kid obviously not and now I'm sitting here crying looking at my 6 week old baby who I touch and cuddle and feed everyday I'm so worried somethings gonna happen to him. Can anyone give me any positive stories. We were both exposed at the same time im now on day 3 with spots baby still has none. Is this a good sign? Is there a chance that he might just miss them? Or get them mild.

I've just been advised by GP to get him checked if he gets them but I'm so scared.

My 7 week old caught them from his older brother. He had a very mild case and only got about 10 spots in all. Was absolutely fine. I was breastfeeding and GP said that might help. (didn't take him to GP as he didn't need it BTW, we took his brother who had one of the worst cases I've ever seen)

Mine was a little older, but 15 weeks when he caught it from his cousin. Very few symptoms (worst part to be honest was my mental wellbeing after having to stay home for 10 days with him or however long the isolation period was!) The only thing we were told is that when children get it very young they may not develop immunity afterwards so could still get it again anyway x

Mine caught them at 3 weeks old. 2 weeks after his brother had them.

He was already in hospital due to RSV bronchiolitis and only came out in a couple of spots once he was on the mend from that. He was quite ill but they now think it was cause he was fighting two viruses at once.

The chickenpox spots didn't bother him one bit and he only got about 5 in total, it was just pure bad luck he got them the exact same time as RSV!

Awww bless him.
Did they give you anything for the spots?

Just adding to what a pp said, I know a few babies who all had it very young (newborn through to 10 months) and unfortunately they have all had it for a second time. Hopefully won't happen but something to be aware of in the future.

My DD caught pox of her brother at 8 weeks in December. She was covered in spots and a bit grumpy, but overall she was fine. Try not panic (easier said than done). I was constantly googling and thinking awful things but she was fine. My 6 year old however had less spots but was much more under the weather. There is still a chance she may not got them, some people said their babies never ended up infected and she might be one of the really lucky immune humans. Hope you are over it soon x

I always give the same advice for chickenpox, but unsure with such a little one how far this applies age wise. If he catches them do not give nurofen as it contains ibuprofen. Poxclin mousse is fantastic for stopping the itch and Virasoothe gel prevents scarring. Best of luck OP Flowers

Adding here, I (apparently) had chicken pox at less than 3 months and very mildly, but I had them again when I was about 8 and was head to toe pox - but survived with calamine lotion baths!
