Child constantly complaining of pain somewhere

My 8 year old daughter is constantly complaining of pain somewhere - her stomach, her head, her legs, her feet, etc. We've had the various complaints investigated - the most that came up was that she was a little longsighted and might need glasses for close up work and that may have been behind the headaches. But several times a day she'll be complaining about various pains, moaning and even sometimes crying. We give her calpol when it's very bad, and sympathise, but we don't go making a big fuss out of it all. It's been going on for ages. She's otherwise healthy, active, etc. Had anyone had a kid like this and did they grow out of it? Or is there a potential issue that we're missing and need to investigate further?

OP, has she had bloods done? She may be lacking in vitamins and minerals. My DD complains of things often (headaches, tummy aches etc) but she has coealiac disease so I think that's likely the cause of some issues. Does you DD have anxiety / worries a lot?

My DD is 14 and a bit like this. She has had bad knees and an operation on one of them - but now it's elbows, stomach (she took Omeprazole for a while), her neck (she just slept a bit funny), her ankle. Then with other things she doesn't moan at all (heavy periods). I think she's over anxious and sensitive to anything joint related so if it aches a bit for whatever reason, she really feels it. She is an anxious child and talks about being anxious generally so I think it's all related.

My 5 year old is like this. She does have quite a few health conditions but I think she is generally just very very sensitive physically. I put a lot of it down to ‘growing pains’ and try to minimise because she has enough real diagnoses to worry about! She seems to expect the worse a lot. Think that might be genetic!

It could be vitamin d deficiency.

Thanks everyone for your replies, yes bloods were done a while back, may be worth doing again. She does have a lot of anxiety and perfectionism. They figured this was behind the stomach aches, they are real but are coming from an emotional cause. Coeliac ruled out. I'll try the vitamin d, that's a good call. I'm worried it's going to be the child that cried wolf, that we'll miss something real because of the daily aches and pains that we hear about.

One of mine was a bit like this. She is autistic and if something didn't feel quite right she would complain of 'sore' - she is a teen now and much more able to tell the difference between sore and a minor feeling but I think when she was younger she didn't cope with the sensory differences and 'sore' was the only way she could explain
