My little one whose 5 had confirmed scarlet fever last Monday, he returned to school later last week, he seemed okay but still pale and tired. He was sent home from school yesterday as he’d been sick! He’s lost his appetite and is very pale! I’ve called the Gp who didn’t seem fussed! My question is has anyone else’s little one been like this since having scarlet fever, is it related or is he just unlucky enough to have caught another bug?

It took my DD a few months to get over scarlet fever. She lost a ton of weight and was very sleepy. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear

My dd6 had scarlet fever in December and is still white as a ghost. To the Point they tested her last week to see if she was anaemic as she looks so so pale. She’s not, and is “just” post viral. She’s much more easily tired than normal too. Sounds like nothing concerning just lots of rest where you csn for you little one. Sending hugs xx

My dd was very unwell with scarlet fever when she was 4 - had hallucinations and didn't really move from the sofa for over a week. She also lost lots of weight and it took her many months to recover. She had a voice like Minnie Mouse for months afterwards too.

She then had the same symptoms about 9 months/a year later. The GP receptionist poo pooed that she could have scarlet fever again but gp confirmed it was. Thankfully the second time was much milder and short lived.

Hope your ds bounces back quickly

Thank you! He’s definitely not quite his usual self still, but seems common after scarlet fever. My little one was quite poorly with it too. It’s half term here next week so he can have some rest! X
