Overactive bladder

Daughter 9yrs has what appears to be overactive bladder. No wetting accidents day or night but an urgency to wee that appears in new settings or when she may be nervous. She shows physical signs of this too - squirming - and is upset at feeling unable to control this sensation. We’ve been back and forth to the GP several times (no infection, no diabetes, no constipation) and contacted ERIC but main feedback was to try timed voiding, which we’ve worked through though not militantly as found the more we focused on the issue the worse it got. She also goes hours between toilet trips at home without thinking about it but if in a new situation can go to the loo and need to go again 10min later. She’s generally a happy girl and this doesn’t stop her living a life but I’d love to help her get past suffering this feeling as I’m sure it puts her off trying some things, like sleepovers or offers to go on longer day trips with friends. Has anyone been in a similar position and had a positive outcome? If I go back to the GP I need to have a clear plan or request as I feel the multiple previous trips just built up this issue in her head and if anything hindered her progress.

Is there any chance she may have hyper mobility? My DH has OAB, for which he was medicated for years, but he has recently weaned off his medication and is coping fine without it. He occasionally has bad days, but nothing like what he used to be like. Like your DD - the more he thinks about it, the more he needs to go. He finds that when he is flat out at work he is generally fine, but when he has a more ‘bitty’ day broken up with random meetings and phone calls that he needs to go more often.

DS is fine now, but he has hypermobility and still regularly had small accidents (mostly dribbles) until he was around 12/13. For him it was to do with weak muscle tone and it’s actually a very common issue for children with HM. He had a watch that discreetly vibrated at at intervals to remind him to go which did help a bit.
