Toddler reflux

Can anyone share any experiences of toddler reflux? My little one is nearly two and is generally very restless at night like he's struggling to get comfortable. Milk seems to help and he'll go back to sleep more deeply after a bottle but it's only temporary. He's OK in the day but can be quite clingy.

It's only tonight I've noticed his restlessness and crying coincides with burps and coughing, and it's occurred to me for the first time that it could be reflux. I feel terrible for not having realised sooner, as he's been like this pretty much forever.

He did projectile vomit a lot as a baby and had terrible wind, but once we had his tongue tie corrected that stopped. He's also dairy free but mainly due to eczema and we've never connected that with this kind of thing.

I will ring the GP but I don't know what I'm looking for - any help would be appreciated!

My ds was put on omeprazole at age 7 then changed to lansoprazole because omeprazole wasn't available in the right formula for children. He used to frequently bring up vomit and swallow it back down. Like acid burps. Usually if he was running around not too long after eating. It started to get more frequent and distressing him so I took him to the GP. I'm a nurse so knew what to ask for but the GP was reluctant to prescribe. He agreed to a months trial and within a few days the reflux was resolved. He's continued on the medication and is 8 now. No side effects from the medication and he continues to be symptom free unless we run out of medication for more than 3 days.
I hope your dc gets something to help. You could try more pillows to keep more upright but they tend to wriggle off them once asleep.
