Sorry for the itchy heads in advance!!

My eldest daughter brought home headlice about 2 weeks ago and I can't seem to get rid of them. I've used Headrin on her hair twice once when I first found them and then a week later as the packet directed. I had to do it on myself too and I've been combing through everyones hair regularly. I've noticed today about 1 or 2 with the comb in my eldest daughters. Thought I'd check my 1 year old too and she's absolutely infested. Please help!!

There are solid career opportunities at the travelling flea circus?

Comb with conditioner every 3 days for 3 weeks as that's how long the life cycle is. Or treat the infested people every week for 3 weeks as only treating twice may not be enough.

Comb every day until the fuckers have gone, then once a week.

Nitty Gritty comb. Comb using cheap conditioner every few days (cheap conditioner isn't as thick so it's easier to comb). The NG comb is about £10 but it is worth its absolute weight in gold. I've had ours 10 years and it's well used but still great.

Comb the entire household, over and over and over! If your older children aren't too little - I sometimes supplement the combing with running straighteners over their hair, I think straightener use is why I haven't had them when DC has been infested and slept with head next to mine!

As others have said:

Nitty Gritty comb
absolutely loads of cheap conditioner
comb in sections every three days for three weeks
i considered using hair straighteners on my older daughters hair recently. I would do it on its own but as a one off to try to kill off any stubborn ones a run through with the straighteners could work.

Hair spray is supposed to deter them for the ones at school or nursery. Not scientific but it worked for me for 30 years as a teacher.

Oh and tea tree oil! I add a few drops to a bottle of water and a touch of conditioner. It works as a detangle spray and the wee buggers hate it so they stay away. It won’t kill an infestation but it can help keep it away once you have cleared them
