Completely white poos in almost 4 year old

Hi, for the past 2 days my daughter has been having poos that are completely white. They are normal consistently. She is a bit more clingy than usual and eating less than usual too. Last week she had fever 38-39 degrees for 7 days for no cause (no cough, no snotty nose). No more fever for the past 5 days. She is nauseous but no vomiting. GP said she will check her out next Monday!!!! 😒 she was 11.9kg before turning 3 and she is 12kg now. She has had some very pale stools in the past for no reason at all but this is pure white, I have shown it to friends & relatives (no kidding, it surprises everyone!). My husband had this before collapsing and he had emergency surgery to get his gallbladder removed.
should I take her to A&E?

I would call 111 for advice - completely white and grey poo can be a sign of liver problems so worth getting checked out asap
111 will probably advise A&E or get someone to call you

My son was under a paediatric gastroenterologist. She always said she was not worried about poo colour unless it was white or black. Black means blood in stool. White can mean a serious problem with digestive system (I think liver). I would call 111 but if you can’t get through quickly, yes take her to A&E

I agree with pp. I wouldn't want to wait a week so call 111.

We dont have 111 in Northern Ireland but I called GP out of hours, who will ring back in many hours. Why would a GP tell me to wait if its such a red flag? My daughter is well otherwise, i am afraid they will put me at the back of the list thinking i am exagerating. I took some pictures with my phone but you cant really see that is white.

It’s not an a&e trip I don’t think if she seems ok in herself but white poo and Nausea can be a symptom of liver problems so needs checked sooner than Monday. call GP in morning and say this and let us know what they say.

Ds1 had this once. He'd had a particularly severe sickness bug & the doctor said he'd thrown up so much bile, he couldn't make it quickly enough. All was OK.

whatami2 · 06/02/2023 20:57

She hasn’t vomited at all lately. And no tummy bug as far as I know (no loose stools or tummy pain).

Any itching?

user2391 · 06/02/2023 21:21

A friend had this before being diagnosed celiac

nocoolnamesleft · 06/02/2023 22:39

The concern is that you can get white poo with some sorts of liver problems. It doesn't mean it is that, but they do need excluding. Is she jaundiced (yellow tinge) at all? Especially the whites of her eyes? If so, really needs to see someone promptly. If not, can probably wait on GP call back.

@whatami2 how is everything op?

Namenic · 07/02/2023 21:55

See a doctor. Take a picture of one and if possible take a sample. Could be a blockage of the bile system.
