Chickenpox vaccine for child with pregnant mother

Can someone help me, as I'm getting lots of conflicting advice.

Is it okay for my child (over 1 year) to get the chickenpox vaccine whilst I am also pregnant? I've had chickenpox as a child. Boots apparently won't do this, is this true of all pharmacies/practitioners?

I just want to do what's best for my child and also my unborn one! I'm struggling to see how it's more risky for my 1yo to have it now whilst my unborn baby is inside their immune mother than after they're born and have no immunity? Does that make sense? I don't know anymore!

Sounds weird! My eldest had her chickenpox booster at 4 at a private doctor in London when I was pregnant with her brother and no one mentioned it. Also it must happen all the time in all the countries where chickenpox is on the standard vaccine schedule, in the US for example it’s combined with the MMR i injection, and you wouldn’t delay that because mom is pregnant…

I had my son vaccinated for chickenpox when I was 12 weeks pregnant, after the first dose was given the pharmacist said just to keep him away from immunocompromised people for 48 hrs, chemo patients, pregnant women etc. I said I was pregnant, and he asked if I'd had it before which I had and he said it's fine, it's just a precaution. I spoke to my midwife who again said as long as I've had it before it's fine. So I went ahead with the second dose too. We were all fine and my son hasn't had chickenpox and it's done the rounds in his school a good 3 times since!

Thank you both! @FlounderingFruitcake that's exactly what I was thinking is surely the case in countries where it's routine.
@doingitalllagain glad to hear the vaccine worked well for your son!

Now I just need to find somewhere else nearby that will do it since Boots won't... I live fairly rurally so that's tricky, and google isn't giving me anything 😭 no clue where to look tbh

I had his done in Lloyds pharmacy, booked online and it showed all locations near me that offered it

I'd try a private GP or a travel clinic. I found a pharmacy chain called Well Pharmacy but their vaccine was suitable for children aged 2 and over.

Boots did tell me to stay away from pregnant women but I could hardly ask all the mums at baby classes if they are pregnant, they might not want to say. If you are obviously pregnant could you not just get someone else to bring DC to Boots?

Sorry as above it was well pharmacy not Lloyds
