Worried about eye health

Wondering if anyone has been through anything similar. My son is 5 and has been under the eye hosptial since he was 14 months old, due to a constant inward, alternating squint.

He goes for standard appointments every 4 months. Once a year has the eye drops which dilate the pupils.

On Friday we had an appointment with the drops. I mentioned to them at the time that I was concerned because of a few photographs over the last few months showed up a white eye, the other red.

He said he can't see anything concerning but couldn't have a really good look at the back of the eye because my son was a bit upset. After waiting for over 2 hours in a hot waiting room and having the drops that he hates, it's not unheard of for a young child I'm sure. He then said he can see on the notes that previous staff members have said similar about my son and they haven't been able to look.

Then just told us to keep doing what we are doing (in regards to wearing glasses) and to come back in 4 months for the standard appointment.

So now I'm worrying that they have never been able to have a good look behind the eye in the 4 years we have been attending the eye hosptial. Along with the white eye I have seen in some recent photos and Google telling me it could be a sign of eye cancer, I'm terrified.

I'm waiting for the hospital to get back to me to answer my concerns, but it's a horrible feeling not knowing if all is OK.

Surely they wouldn't just send us on our way if there was a chance they might have misses something serious?!

Sorry this is a long post but it's all I can think about right now.

We had a similar situation with my daughter. Back in August my husband noticed the pulp of her eye was bigger than the other so i took her to the opticians and they looked and noticed it aswell told me it was 3 things 1, just the way her eye is 2, her nerves or 3 the scary one cancer. We had to make appointment with are gp who looked at her noticed it and rang hospital there and then she was sent up and had to stay ovet night. Asked if she had lost her balance had headaches is sick in the morning or at night has stopped eatting or is eatting less than normal can she hold a pencil. They said they couldnt see anything alarming but asked for loads of pictures from when she was younger. We ended up with appointment in December and got told it just the way her eye is made and nothing to worry about..
