Milk intolerance, However since weaning really hard and big poos

Hello, I'm looking for some advice my baby girl has a cows milk intolerance and has been on prescription milk since around three months old. The prescription milk she's on is called Neocate. However, since introducing food into her diet around six months old her poos have gone really hard and really big. She is now eight months old, so this has been happening for two months solid. She has never been a baby that poo daily, even when she was just on the Neocate formula she would poo every other day or every two days. However, since having food in her diet, she is now only pooing every three days. On the day that she actually poos she try's a few times, She doesn't seem distressed at that point she just seems focused on getting the poo out. Then when it finally comes out she gets distressed, sometimes it takes it out of her, and she falls asleep straight after. They are really hard and big and stretches her bottom quite a bit. We have spoken to the doctor, and they advised It could be a combination of the formula milk and the food, they told us to introduce more fibre into her diet and giving her pure apple juice. She won't entertain apple juice at all. She will love have cooled down boiled water. She does have fibre in her diet as fibre is in a lot of things such as fruit and veg. However, we have tried to put in more multi-grains and oats and things like that. However, she doesn't like porridge or anything like that mixed with her formula milk, she refuses to eat it. Could we mix it with the milk alternative such as oat milk? We are looking for some advice on how to soften our baby girl poos as we feel awful for her, trying to push out these big poos out. Any advice would be appreciated Smile

Have you tried prunes? Things like the Ella's kitchen pouches can help if she'll take them, or prune juice (bit of a love it or loath it!). You could also try mixing it into her porridge, yoghurts etc?
I'd definitely speak to the gp or the dietitian about an alternative milk like oat milk.
If she's having large poos, too much fiber might actually make it worse as fiber bulks up poos. I'd focus on getting lots of fruit and veg in, and most importantly making sure she is drinking lots, whether its water, apple juice, orange juice, anything!
If she's sore though, I think it would be worth speaking to the gp about a medication like lactulose or movicol which will make it easier for her to go. The ERIC website might help with some information for you. Hope shes feeling better soon.
