Weight loss in 1 year old - worried

My DS was unwell in October for around 5/6 weeks with viral illness and was completely off his milk and food. (He was 9/10mo at the time) and during this time would barely take anything and I was back and forth to the GP who never seemed to be too concerned just to keep pushing fluids.

prior to this he weight 9.1kg and weight dropped to 8.6kg, I saw the H/V who has weighed him in December and he was 8.8kg, they are coming out again this month to check weight but I’m so stressed and worried that he hasn’t gained the weight back.
He looks really tiny now compared to other babies the same age and I just wonder if anyone else has been through similar or has any advice? I spoke to the GP again last week who wanted to wait and see but I’m at the end of my tether with it all really.

also, just to add, he eats reasonably well and has done since he recovered. Of course there’s the odd day where he eats like a sparrow but mostly eats at least 1/2 - 3/4 at meals, plus 2 snacks plus milk morning and evening.

Hi! When my youngest was the same age we had a similar issue (but the cause was chronic constipation meaning he didn't want to eat). I found it really stressful too and we were referred to paediatrics due to weight loss in combination with constipation. The consultant said not to worry about the weight too much as they will catch back up when the cause is resolved - which ended up being true for us!

Once his constipation was resolved he caught back up quite quickly. If your little one was 9.1kg at 9 months he must have been quite high on the centile chart? The doctor said they're not too worried if bigger babies drop down the centile lines a bit. My son dropped from 90th to 50th at his worst, and now is back up to 75th.

Anyway just to say not to worry too much, I'm sure now he's eating well he'll catch back up to where he should be!
