Blocked nose

Hi everyone first time mum here!

I have an 8 week old baby, since day one she's been a bit stuffy and I put this down to her being a newborn having had no experience of what is normal. Then just before Christmas we all get colds, she's sneezing and snotty and I think this is what we have been gearing up to. Now we're 10 days down the line and she seems to have a blocked nose worse than ever, particularly at night. She wakes herself up and gets distressed and ends up snorting and crying. She has no temperature, she's not pulling her breath under her ribs and is feeding ok (slower than usual and occasionally gags) nappies are normal. I've tried salines sprays (Calpol and Sterimar), bulb syringe, tilting her crib, snufflebabe vapour oil and I'm at a loss. I've tried to get a GP appointment but it's nearly impossible as I have to call on the day and can never get through. My friend used to work for 111 and said they would probably tell me to contact my GP. She doesn't have a runny nose it's just very blocked, it sounds dry (if that makes sense!) Does anyone have a similar experience and what did you do about it? I'm wondering if this sounds more like an allergy issue or she has a very irritated nose from the cold. I'm going to try the GP again tomorrow but would appreciate other experiences.

Yes, could be allergies. My son had this whenever I ate wheat (breastfed), so I cut it out. I'd been trying excluding different things anyway for possible silent reflux and happened to notice his nighttime "snufflyness" cleared up. Now he's 5 months wheat doesn't affect him so much, probably as his own digestion is maturing.
Could also be cows milk protein.

Sorry, I should have mentioned. I was unable to breastfeed so she has Aptamil formula.

Might be cows milk then. Or possibly, but less likely, environmental allergies (pets, dust, washing detergent)

Does she have any rashes? Reflux? Mucus poos? Could be cmpa or could be an allergy to something in the house. Any pets?

Likely to be post cold. They take little ones ages to get over. Put a bowl of warm water near any radiators to make sure the air is not too dry. Consider having the baby sleep propped upright a bit. Feed regularly as the sucking helps clear the nasal passages.

i remember when my baby got a cold at 5 weeks old. It was awful. He slept in car seat an hour at a time .

Babies have very narrow airways and are often like this when they are tiny particularly in winter particularly after a bug. Hang tough. There is no miracle cure …

She had a slight dry rash on her cheeks which cleared up with some aveeno, no reflux really and no mucus. We do have a cat, he is shut out of the bedroom at night which is when she tends to be at her worst.
