Impetigo and strep A, how long does it take to go?

DD 5 and DD 3 were both diagnosed with strep A on Christmas Day. I took them to the out of hours as they both had scarlet fever and they were both diagnosed with strep A due to DD 5 having impetigo. We’re now on day 9 of antibiotics and although the scarlet fever has gone the impetigo is still there (albeit not as bad as it was she just has slight redness around the mouth). Tomorrow is the last day of antibiotics and I can’t see it completely clearing by tomorrow. Do I take her back to the gp or just wait it out?

Impetigo is a bugger to get rid of.....when mine were little it was advised to thoroughly clean everything daily.....cot, sheets, you name it, it got doused in dettol. This was 25 years ago though.

I’ve changed her bed sheets loads, made sure she’s not sharing towels, washed everything and cleaned it regularly but it just doesn’t seem to be going away. It’s nowhere near as bad as it was, it just looks ever so slightly red but she’s got into a real bad habit of biting her lips because of it. I might give it a few days and then if it’s not cleared I’ll give them a ring.
