Dizzy spells and nose bleeds

My 5 year old has been getting the odd dizzy spell. Before Christmas I got an appointment with her GP who said to make a note every time it happens and if it continues they will refer her.

Yesterday morning she woke up with a nose bleed which she has never had before, no dizziness though. I panicked, however a few friends told me they suffered with nose bleeds at the same age so felt reassured and also read online it’s a very common thing in children aged 3-10.

My child has just came through from her bedroom covered in blood from another nose bleed and I don’t know what to do. I know a nose bleed can be a very common thing but I can’t help thinking that it might be linked it to the dizzy spells she’s been having.

Any advice?

My dd has nosebleeds in the night, has done for years, she is now 12. They were worse when she was younger. Lots of children have them.

Given that she's dizzy may be worth just getting her checked over. I don't think it'll be anything sinister but I'm not a medical professional. Dry indoor humid air can cause nose bleeds. Lots of my boys friends have lots of nosebleeds.

I would absolutely insist on getting her checked out. Two new symptoms in quick succession could be linked to something or they could be nothing - only a medical professional can answer that.

Did your GP check your daughter’s blood pressure?

My daughters blood pressure wasn’t checked. The GP listened to her heart for any irregular rhythm as he wanted to rule that out for the dizziness.

I’ve seen her trying to pick at her nose today so now wondering if she’s picking it while sleeping and that’s causing the bleeding. There’s just so much blood! It stops pretty quickly.

Bless her heart! I would definitely go back to the GP, @Phoney only because these are 2 new symptoms which could be red herrings or could point to something else. I hope she's OK now x
