DD (11) has swollen sore eyes that aren't getting better

DD has dry, eczema prone skin at the best of time but for the last few weeks her eyes have been swollen and sore.

The eye itself seems ok, apart from when she rubs it a lot and it's not weeping excessively or gunky, but the skin around it is sore and red. The pharmacist said not to use steroid cream so close to her eye and to use moisturiser instead, but despite frequent applications, it's not helping.

Any ideas?

Can you bathe them with warm salt water ? X

La Roche Posay products are really good for skin problems. My DM switched to their mascara after ongoing eye problems and it cleared it up. You could try the Hydraphase Intense Eye Cream.

My daughter is prone to eczema around her eyes and has recently started using Balmonds Skin Salvation. The difference after a day was incredible and I would absolutely recommend it.

I'm following as this has just started happening to me! I've no idea what the cause is

My teenage son is prone to asthma and eczema and his eyes are like this - they are red and he has permanent bags under them. We went to the doctors last week and was prescribed 2% sodium cromoglicate which is just hayfever drops that you can also buy over the counter. She said the they eyes, asthma and eczema are all related and had just got out of control. These may be worth a try and they seem to be helping my son.

My eyes were like this and the GP prescribed 0.5% hydrocortisone. The pharmacist won’t sell it you have to have a prescription. It cleared up in 3 days and was hugely better after just one application.

Thanks all. She had an opticians appt yesterday and he advised a visit to the GP, so that's what we'll do. I think it'll take a steroid to shift it tbh, it looks worse today.

One of my DC had this and it was so hard as he kept itching them. We used steroids, the ointment is good. Ultimately he had UVB light therapy and strong steroids which cleared it
