Outpatients appointment - not sure why?

Hello just wondered if anyone has any idea - I have called the hospital but nobody is working in appointments until after the bank holidays.

I received a text from the nhs portal with details of an outpatients appointment with paediatrics for my son at the end of January.

Totally out of the blue - we weren't expecting an appointment, not waiting for a referral for anything. He is well and actually hasn't seen a dr since may this year.

He has just turned 3 at the end of November.

Is there a routine appointment I'm not aware of? I know there's various vaccine invitations etc but these usually take place at the GP.

Otherwise could it have been a scam text? The letter from the portal looks genuine and they have my sons name, address and nhs number.

Thanks in advance for anyone who might have a clue what this is about. I will of course call back on Wednesday but I'm worrying now that I've missed something?

None of mine had an routine outpatients appt at that age. Unless obviously it was for a reason I would know about/been to the GP with. It could be they've text the wrong patient.. which isn't ideal but I suppose could happen. I'd check and ring them when they open! X

I've certainly had people turn up in clinic adamant that they don't know why their child has an appointment, then when I read out the GP letter they remember going to the GP after all. I've also had very confused parents, where it turned out the other parent had taken them to the GP...
