Baby constantly sounds congested

My 7m DS has had raspy breathing and sounded congested for around 3 months. He had bronchiolitis at 4m and his breathing has never been 100% since.

I’ve been back to the GP a couple of times. The last one I saw thought his chest was clear and the issue was nasal congestion. He said he just has a cold.

I don’t want to waste the GPs time when they’ve already seen him but am a bit worried about the persistence of this.

He is a very happy contented baby. He feeds well (though not got very far with weaning yet). He sicks up mucus occasionally and seems to have a slight temperature quite a bit of the time. He wakes up a lot during the night but that may just be because he’s a baby. The breathing doesn’t seem to be getting worse but hasn’t improved in the last couple of months either. He is constantly exposed to colds as brother is at nursery.

Does anyone have any experience or think I should be pushing for further investigation?

Sounds like it could be allergies to me. If he's breastfed then it could be something you're eating. If formula fed then could be cows milk or environmental things.

@Scramble1805 That’s interesting and not something I had considered. He’s breastfed so I could try cutting out cows milk for a while and see if it makes a difference. He’s been worse again since I started weaning which might make sense if it’s an allergy.

I think dairy, wheat and soya are probably good starting points to my knowledge. Dairy can take a few weeks to completely leave the body though, but most other foods it's only a few days.
Good luck getting to the bottom of it.
