Posted on here a few weeks ago abooy my 3 year old being poorly and now he ud poorly again

He only started nursery this year and this last month he's had throat infection, tonsillitis and another viral infection one after the other

He eventually got better and has been so much better the last 2 weeks.

We've come away on a family holiday (Mexico so it's hot) and since last night he's had a temperature again. Nurofen got it down but now it's 4. 30am here and it's back up again.

I am completely freaking out that he's unwell again 😭😭he a seemed OK in himself yesterday, maybe a little of his food but still running around roit

I spoke with a number of doctors beoree we came away, and they said it's normal for children this age to be ill a lot, but this seems never ending 😢

Is it normal for a child this age to have a temperature this regular? Last time he definitely wasn't himself, he seems himself its just the temperature

There are a lot of viruses going round at the minute, they pick up a lot from other children. How is he in himself? Drinking and weeing, playing? I wouldn’t worry about eating as long as he’s drinking.

it does feel like the viruses are endless when they’re small.

He has been playing and drinking and weeing , and when the temp is down he seems absolutely fine in himself. It just seems never ending! I have suffered with healtj anxiety in the past and still now sometimes so my mind is going into over drive!

In between illness he is absolutely fine as well, just absolutely hate him getting unwell 😢

Some children do pick up illness easier than others. At 3 the mixing he had prior to nursery and catching infections would have been more limited. Children are great at sharing germs between them. Toddlers aren’t the most hygienic of humans!

It’s good that in between he is playing , eating and drinking etc, the temp is a sign of his body fighting off ann infection. Just keep an eye and keep him hydrated.

We had 6 month of constant illness when he started nursery, and unfortunately this winter there is a lot more going round.
It does get better.

It's good he's being himself and playing inbetween, keep the water up, let him sleep when needed.

Yes I think it is normal to be ill constantly when they start nursery. My DS started in September and has just gone from one illness to the next.

Thank you all, he seems to have a runny nose this morning! So I'm assuming he has yet again another cold!

Thankfully he seems himself still and has eaten and drank this mornkng

It’s so inconvenient and worrying but it is normal. Especially for children born around covid they missed out on a lot of immune system building

Hope he feels better soon

No advice but just to say we’re in the same boat. My little boy started childminders in October and it seems like he’s been poorly back to back since. Currently on his 4th dose of antibiotics. 2 for chest infection and 2 for tonsillitis. I hope things get better soon.

My DD had a green nose for about two years at nursery, with frequent temperatures. I think it’s just normal, and with covid/isolation is no doubt a bit worse than most starting nursery. It does get easier, they will build up their immunity each time and in a year or two will be more similar to an adult sickness rate.

Probiotics help with immunity, I’m not sure that tablets/chews would be suitable for a child so young, they can upset the tummy, but eating foods with natural probiotics might help.
