Toddler with flu

18mo DD is my first. We've had a really rough winter catching lots of bugs, and now we've all come down with nasty flu.

I'm very worried for DD. She is wanting to sleep constantly (she's still asleep now at 9.15am), temp stays under control for a while then spikes at 38/39. Weirdly, her cheeks can be as high as 41. She's not eating, but is having most of her morning and night cows milk bottles and is drinking water through the day. Her nappies have been quite dry though, and she's not pooing as much as usual.

There are moments when she seems a bit brighter but then she flakes.

As a FTM, I just don't know when to continue monitoring at home or when to seek advice. The lethargy worries me, but perhaps that's normal? I just want to sleep all the time too! We all feel absolutely retched.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance. Thank you

Can you wake her easily?
Given you've said her nappies are quite dry - signs of dehydration. And you've mentioned the lethargy, I'd be getting her seen.
Be completely different if she was fine and playing and running about, laughing. But when mine are as lethargic as your LO sounds, and have dry nappies - that's when I get them seen to. Get her seen today at GP before Christmas xx

Thanks @Sameshitdifferentdayx

She's up now and had almost 300ml of cows milk. She's smiling and running about a bit, although she's a bit unsteady on her feet. Her nappy was full, but then it had been on all night.

She is awake and alert between sleeps so perhaps lethargy is the wrong word. She's just sleeping so much. She dozed off on my lap about an hour after waking yesterday then had an almost 4 hour nap. She dozed off on us again in the afternoon, before going to bed at 7pm which is early for her. She was restless for the first part of the night.

Ah OK.
Sleep is good for them when poorly so let her sleep it off. If she's alert and perkier when she's awake - playing, talking etc then just keep a close eye.
When she's sleeping, just make sure you can wake her and she responds to say a slight tickle of the bottom of the foot (my boys will usually flinch or curly their toes in the right spot on the foot lol!)
If she's not eating food that's fine, you could try her favorite things - even if it's only crappy stuff she's eating for now. As long as she's drinking plenty of fluids! Obviously you said she's drinking her milk which is good - will do what food does anyway.
I hope she feels better soon. If at any point you are really concerned, temp cant be controlled with medicine, she becomes very difficult to keep awake and wake up, no drinking and dry nappies for at least 24 hours - get her seen to. Xx

have you given her ibuprofen? I always find my little ones so tired the day after that’s given.
if you are getting dry nappies, I’d probably have her seen xx
