Re assurance? Strep A

Firstly sorry for another Strep A topic

Secondly I suffer with anxiety I'm a worst case and intrusive thoughts person!

DS (2) has had the nasty winter cold for like 2 weeks! It's felt like relentless illness for a while here .

This week he's just been under the weather. No temp just snotty and quick to be miserable which is very usual when he's poorly but he's also got moments of being super happy! I would say 60-% himself

Today I noticed his throat had a red bit . On closer inspection it looks a bit blood shot and he he has a few very tiny white dots in his mouth.

I have a digital dr at work who we did a video appointment with and they said it was to hard to do over video so wanted him seen today either by my Gp or at a walk in.

Called my gp who instantly said they would prescribe anti biotics for suspected strep a but couldn't see him.

We can get the antibiotics tommorrow as that's the earliest the prescription will be ready.

DS has eaten this afternoon and been generally ok and happy. Currently reading books and still no fever.

I'm just so unsure if we should go to walk in tonight so someone physically see him or should we just wait and start the antibiotics tommorrow and see how we get on.

I'm reading the horror stories about how quickly kids go downhill with strep a and panicking

I would wait for the antibiotics tomorrow. Yes, children can go downhill fast but yours has already been poorly for a while so it probably
Is just a lingering virus and is unlikely to suddenly deteriorate. If he is generally himself
I would just keep a close eye on him and wait for tomorrow. My 5 year old usually ends up in my bed every night anyway but if yours doesn't I probably would put him in with you tonight to keep a better watch on him. And if the worst does happen there's always 999 and an ambulance. But from what you've said about him it just sounds like a virus that he's struggled to shift but, fortunately, isn't making him feel too ill.

Thank you so much for replying !

Yes I plan to check him through the night!

The digital Dr has just called back for an update and was also comfortable to wait for antibiotics tommorrow.

I also have to remember red throats with white spots don't have to be strep a but it's just so hard not to worry
