Covid or (mild) Scarlet fever?

DD (12) has been unwell since Saturday, I would describe it as mild / moderate illness. Symptoms:

Bad headache and nausea on the first day, slight cough
Then...
Tummy ache
Aching muscles
Cough (chesty, not really persistent but started with the cough first)
Runny nose (slight)
Sore throat (mild she says but looks a bit red)
Slight temp (37.5, normal for her is 36)
Headache

So I assumed a cold or maybe covid. I have tested for covid (neg). Yesterday a case of strep was announced in her class. So I called the Dr and mentioned the above who has prescribed antibiotics pretty much immediately. I was surprised, they didn't ask to see her just issued it.

Anyway it took an age to get the antibiotics as it's the liquid (had to go to 5 pharmacies) but got it. She has had two doses so far. This morning she has had a slight rash on her torso. I wouldn't have noticed but she came to me saying her skin feels rough, indeed there are some small bumps. Then this afternoon a sort of slight blotchy-ness on her cheeks and neck and again a bit of 'dry / rough skin'. She is of pale complexion. The rash has pretty much gone this by late this afternoon.

I am surprised if this is 'scarlet fever' I think it seems very mild. Yes she's unwell but not too bad, no raging fever etc, Is this it or maybe just something else? Impossible to know for certain of course and happy to have medicine in case but has anyone else's child been like this? As in mild symptoms? I am worried the (very strong) antibiotics will do more harm than good (but will give them). Just wondered if anyone had experienced similar?

Haven't experienced this but it's possible that it is strep/scarlet fever and that the reason it seems so mild is BECAUSE of the antibiotics – if you hadn't started giving them perhaps it would be worse. I would definitely give them if the doctor advises it, especially given the deaths of Group A strep recently.

Sounds exactly like when dr had scarlet fever (several years ago). She was much iller with Covid.

I am wondering the same with my child. He hasn't really had a rash and has had a much higher temperature. We'll give the full course of antibiotics and will probably never know one way or another!

My daughter had scarlet fever a couple of weeks ago. Really sick until antibiotics then within a day perfectly perky. Same symptoms. Diagnosed by Dr. Did have white on tonsils too though.
