I feel so stupid!!!!! And I’m so worried.

we had a roast today but our 8 month old was asleep. So I reheated stuffing, veg and potatoes for him.

I took everything out the oven after approx 7 mins and just left it on the side.

it wasn’t untill he was eating the stuffing I realised it was PORK, SAGE & ONION STUFFING!!!

so I can’t tell you if it was piping hot? I also think he probably has 2 pieces the size of my baby finger nail before I realised and chucked it away.

will my son have food poisoning? How will I know? What do I do.

i feel awful!!!!

He'll probably be fine as it was previously fully cooked and he only had a tiny amount.
There's nothing you can do except watch and wait and see if he develops diarrhoea and vomiting.

Cooked meat products are ok out at ambient room temperature for up to four hours. Thereafter they should be disposed of rather than refrigerated.

Fret not, honestly.

I am paranoid about things like this and this would not have worried me at all. I sometimes give my little one cold leftovers. As long as it was cooked well then stored properly until eating again, I don't think there's any issue. Its like giving him a cold chicken sandwich with leftover chicken from the roast?

In future I probably wouldn’t reheat. I think that’s more dangerous than just serving it at either ambient room temp (if within a few hours) or from the fridge. If you’ve cooked it properly the first time it shouldn’t need reheating - it’s not like an 8 month old has a preference for the temperature of their food.

He will be fine!
