My little boys 3 he's been unwell for a few days now I took him to the doctor the night before last and he basically said keep an eye on him he should feel better in a week or so with calpol often. I've been monitoring him today and all the poor baby wants to do is sleep he had 12 hours last night and hasn't managed he stay awake for longer than 30 minutes a time today, he's drinking not eating, has an awful cough and a temperature is this concerning or expected behaviour?

Call 111
if he’s not drinking that’s concerning and if he’s struggling to stay awake

Sorry he is drinking, but not eating, think I'll give them a call to be on the safe side anyway Thankyou

I would 111 it.
Start fluid replacement also called oral fluid challange if you can.
Try 1ml/per kg to start of whatever he likes the best and give him this every 10 minutes wakening him for this.
Hopefully this and calpol/ibuprofen will improve him.

It's so hard but so so important to keep wakening him to take the fluids, and if able whatever he wants to eat(that might be the worst most sugary biscuit in the world).

If he does manage to eat you could add some baby ibuprofen but I wouldn't be keen if he hasn't eaten or drank anything.

I wouldn't bother with 111 tbh. I've got 3dc so probably a higher threshold for what worries me (due to experience).

All 3 kids (youngest 20m) have had bugs this winter where they've barely eaten for a couple of days and pretty much slept for 24-48hrs straight with a high temperature.

I would keep a very close eye on them, keep them topped up with over the counter drugs, offer sugary drinks, ice lollies, biscuits etc. Stuff that's normally a treat - if they want it they can have it.

Hope they're feeling better soon
