Temporary/sudden CMPA? How long?

Hoping you wise lot may be able to help.

My 5 month old had his third set of jabs and the very next day developed diarrhoea that he's had for two weeks now, with no other symptoms. I'm talking 11 poos a day, crazy consistencies, watery, yellow, pesto, you name it.

Doctors think it might be CMPA brought on by a tummy bug and it may only be temporary.

He's combi fed and I'm having no luck with the hypoallergenic formula they've given us, so I'm having to dilute it with his other formula.

Question 1: is it an "all or nothing situation" or will the fact he's having a bit less cows milk help?

Question 2: I'm not convinced this whole episode hasn't started because of the jabs. Docs are adamant this isn't the case but... it just feels like he's never been the same since his third set. Has anyone else found this?

Question 3: Is there a chance this could clear up without having to completely cut out dairy if he is otherwise well? He absolutely hates the prescribed formula so if he may just get through the CMPA symptoms it in a week I'd rather do that; than force him to drink stuff he hates.

Thanks in advance for any advice

1 - no it’s not really going to make a difference if he is still being exposed to his allergen

2 - nope two babies with cmpa, always issues from birth but got worse when yhry had more formula

3 - unlikely

It takes months/ years before kids ‘out grow’ cmpa

I’ve heard of temporary lactose intolerance after a bug, not full blown CMPA

This has definitely come on very suddenly, he was absolutely fine with formula before. I haven't adjusted any of the ratios of BM to formula.

Am I mixing up CMPA with temporary lactose intolerance then?

The doctor has advised me to cut out dairy from my diet but surely that won't work then if it's to do with lactose rather than cows milk protein? (As breast milk will always contain lactose?)

My baby has CMPA & he had it from day 1 & I fought for 5 months for someone to take me seriously. In the end I demanded a poo test and they found blood. I really wouldn’t take no for an answer. Get second opinions. I know there was one of the vaccines I refused because he had so much tummy trouble & they said given at a later date can cause bowel issues. I think it wax drops for a gastrointestinal illness.

never heard of temporary CMPA - it’s an allergy so will be around until it’s outgrown surely? You can however develop an allergy at any time so might just be a coincidence?

tummy bugs can cause temporary lactose intolerance though, we had about a week of bad poops around 8/9 months - assumed it was temporary lactose intolerance too as was always after boob we got a poo! Was exclusively breastfed and I carried on as normal until it cleared up by itself.

My youngest used to seem to become lactose intolerant after a tummy bug. I can’t remember what I did about it but I suspect she was at an age when milk was less important. It was very temporary in my experience. Just a few days after the last symptoms (same sort of time you would feed them a bland diet after a bad sick bug).

M GP didn’t really know anything about CMPA. I was referred to a consultant when DS was suspected to have it
