DS, 22 months is wheezing, runny nose. He’s otherwise ok. What would you do? When should we worry?

Likely to be bronchiolitis, very common at this time of year in his age group. As long as he's happy, drinking and wetting nappies as usual it's otherwise symptomatic management.

Don't hesitate to seek medical attention if his breathing seems laboured (very fast rate or drawing in under the ribs) or he's lethargic/floppy/not drinking. Hope this helps www.nhs.uk/conditions/bronchiolitis/

Thanks. That’s what my Google threw up and it ticks the boxes. We’ll keep an eye on him. Much appreciated

the danger that you can watch out for is telltale signs that he is having to put additional muscular effort into filling his lungs each breath. take off his top and look at his skin on his chest and back - do you see stark lines of indentation along the ribs as he inflates his lungs, showing strain in the ribcage muscles? do you see the hollow at the base of the neck dip inwards each breath?

absence of these signs doesn't necessarily mean everything is fine but if you do see them then consult a doctor immediately. however, often all the noises are just in the windpipe but there's plenty of air getting in and out.

bronchiollitis totally sucks.

PPs have got it spot on above!
Bronch is awful, can be really draining for child and parent to deal with! Plenty of fluids. If you do feel the wheeze is getting worse, don't hesitate to ring 111 or GP. X
