Pink eye and ear infection

so I know GPs are overwhelmed so don’t want to bother them if I don’t need to. My dc (5) has pink eye and I think an ear infection. Does she need antibiotics?

Many pharmacists can prescribe for conjunctivitis if over 2 so I’d speak to a pharmacist first -unless your surgery is easy to get an appointment with or they have nurse prescribers that do minor illnesses?

www.nhs.uk/conditions/conjunctivitis/
“A pharmacist can help with conjunctivitis
Speak to a pharmacist about conjunctivitis. They can give you advice and suggest eyedrops or antihistamines to help with your symptoms.
If you need treatment for a child under 2, you'll need a prescription from a GP.”

pharmacy can also help with ears
www.nhs.uk/conditions/ear-infections/
“A pharmacist can help with an ear infection
Speak to a pharmacist if you think you have an outer ear infection.
They can recommend acidic eardrops to help stop bacteria or fungus spreading.”

I too was going to suggest speaking to the pharmacist. I think 'pink eye' is an American term, but describe the symptoms and they should be able to advise a suitable eye drop. If they recommend chloramphenicol, for conjunctivitis, I'd recommend the drops. It also comes in an ointment, but I find it greasy, messy and ends up stuck in the eye lashes, whereas the drops seem to absorb better.

Make sure there is meticulous hand washing if you child touches their eyes and other things in the house and when you instill the eye drops.

For the possible ear infection though, you might need to see the nurse practitioner at the GP surgery.

Thank you @MarmiteCoriander I’ll make sure to get the drops and lots of hand washing tomorrow!
