My DS (age 12) has just phoned from school. A door slammed into his front tooth and it's now wobbly. My DH has gone to pick him up. We've phoned our dentist bit think they're closed for lunch. Any dentists here that can calm me down? I could cry-it's my worst fear.

I’m not a dentist but my son when 14 bashed his front tooth out whilst doing a roly poly blood everywhere and I could see the roots. Luckily he had a fixed brace but the tooth had completely detached from the gum

a dentist put the tooth back in and over the following months it went grey….then white again! He’s 22 now and it’s fine and firmly in place

good luck

Horrible for your son but don’t worry too much - my sister broke both her front teeth and has very good crowns so you can’t even tell. Teeth are fixable! Dentist is the right solution though so keep trying them.

Thanks both. His tooth is intact but wobbly.

About two months ago my DS (8) decided to try and slide on his knees down the corridor and fell flat on his face. Both his new adult two upper front teeth were wobbly, one much more than the other. For the first week he was on non-solid food, and he is still not allowed to chew with these teeth. We go to the dentist every other week for a quick check.up and they are getting less and less wobbly over time.
I really thought he was going to lose them when he did it, and even though he will have to have frequent vists to the dentist for the next two years, the dentist thinks that it is going be ok.

I walked into a door when I was in my early 20s. Made teeth wobbly. Went to the dentist the next day, who said my teeth would settle down and they did.

Thank for these stories. We went to the dentist this afternoon and he's to go back for a X-ray in 2 weeks' time. Soft diet and no sports until then. He's also got a hairline fracture across the width of the tooth which I'm hoping is just the enamel. Fingers crossed it all settles. I just can't stop worrying.
