Hello everyone, I just want some advise on my daughter‘ height. She will be 6 next month and very bright and smart. The only thing keeps me worried is her height. She was born as a small kid (2nd centile) and keep monitored by doctor all the years till now. Her height is 98 cm and now under monitor from the paediatric Endocrinology in Chelsea and Westminster hospital after she fell off the chart. They did all the test for her, blood test, growth hormone check, bone scan and genetic test (to rule out all the genetic issue related to shortness) and all come back normal. Now it seems they cannot do anything but just let us come back to check every 6 months. It seems she grew 5.6 cm for the past 12 months. She keeps growing but just not catching up (definitely not a bad eater now compared few years before). By the way I am not big person, around 160 cm and my DH is 172. My mother and in laws are small as well. Can you please advise if there is anything else I can do to help my daughter? Just feel so worried that being so small will affect her confidence and I cannot do anything because she is not lack of growth hormone. Thank you very much for your help

My 7yo daughter is small for her age (her best friend is 3 months younger and around 7 cm taller than her). She is fine in every other aspect too - she does have coeliac disease (hereditary) so she is only now growing more than she used to since being gluten free.

For me, personally, I just tell her how wonderful she is. People do mention her height sometimes (she can pass for a 4-5yo) but she will just retort with "good things come in small packages!" - I never want her to feel embarrassed or ashamed of her size. She is on target to be hopefully hitting 5ft when she's fully grown.

Please don't worry about it though as you don't want to pass on your anxiety to her - it's good that there isn't a medical reason for her short stature, and you may well find that she has a growth spurt soon :)

Thank you@Jaybird43 for your message. My daughter is excellent in all the other aspect(got the only outstanding achievement in the class last year) and she is not got affected by the size difference yet( thank you for her kind teachers and friends) I just worried what she will feel when she starts to mind this issue and I cannot do anything to help her. After all those years test, the doctor says she is constitutional delay but no one can guarantee she will catch up later. But anyway I will let her learn what your daughter reply when people comments😀

Hi @Deborahxc123 how's your daughter doing? My daughter is currently below 0.4th percentile and I am really stressed out what must be causing this. We might have to get her checked for turner and other possible causes. Looking to hear how is everything is going with your daughter
