My DS had his 1 year immunisations yesterday afternoon. Last night he had bit of temp but kept under control with calpol.

This afternoon his temp spiked to 39.8, I got it down with calpol but it’s slowly going up a few hours later and im so scared in the night it’s going to get worse. Should I just keep giving him calpol every 4 hours in the night?

thanks

It’s gone up to 39 within like 10 minutes, I’ve just given him some calpol. Is this normal to spike so much every few hours?

Alternative the calpol with ibuprofen.
Ibuprofen can be given 3 times in 24 hours, so 8 hourly, and calpol 4 times in 24 hours so 6 hourly.

As PP said above. You can alternate within reason.
If the medicine is keeping the temp down then that's a good sign.
Plenty of fluids, and keep bubs in cool clothing tonight, nothing too heavy.
The fact she has a temperature is a good sign as it means the immunisations are doing what they're supposed to do. The fever should be short lived. If at any point you're concerned then there's no harm in seeking advice from a gp or health professional x

Definitely ibuprofen alternating. I've always found it much more effective in managing fevers in children

Calpol didn't bring fever below 39.3 so gave Ibuprofen which has finally reduced it. Fingers crossed it doesn't last long.
