Son constantly sick

Hi,
I’m just wandering if anyone would be able to offer any advice or knows what this could be.
My son is 5 and since February of this year we have had 11/12 bouts of sickness. It is the same every time, he is very quiet in the morning, will barely eat then by the afternoon he is being sick, can’t even keep water down.
the next day he is quiet but ok.
the last 4/5 instances have been much closer together and the next day he is extremely lethargic and won’t eat for a few days after.

He has lost about 3kgs since summer.

We have been back and forth with doctors. Finally got blood tests done last month, which showed extremely low platelets (16), they got him back in the next day to repeat the test and was still low but not as extreme abs closer to normal.

We have an ultrasound scan later this week which will hopefully give us some answers but the gp and doctors at hospital just don’t seem to know what this could be?

Ds had similar about age 8yo.
He'd be okayish in the morning. By lunch time his temperature would be coming up and he'd vomit. Then he'd be very sleepy all afternoon and evening with his temperature going up more.
This repeated pretty much daily for half a term, then slightly less often for the next couple of terms.

He had all sorts of tests, including mri and blood tests. Only thing they came out was that he had a major allergy to dustmites (and "magic" cream as a by-product)

He then gradually recovered, although it seems to have left him prone to illness, and especially temperatures (which then mean he vomits) when he catches anything.

They think he probably just had post viral fatigue.

Have you had a paed appointment? When I explained to the GP what the situation as after a month we were in for bloods and to see the paed the next day. But within a couple of weeks he showed signs of improving, whereas your ds doesn't sound like he is, so it's worth pushing a little.
We were asked to keep a diary, with what he'd eaten and what he'd done, so you might like to start that.

My son had cyclical vomiting syndrome from around age 7 till 16. It was always the same time of the day, very early morning and he would be sick for several hours then fall asleep and when he woke up he felt okay again. It could happen every few weeks to months. We had to ask to see a paediatric gastroenterologist to get diagnosed.

It sounds absolutely awful for all of you and I hope you get some answers or it resolves for him soon.
I'm not a health professional, this is just a thought with you mentioning the low platelets. Has he had covid as I have seen some reports that it can affect platelet levels. If so it might be worth raising with the doctors to see if that might be a possible cause. Hopefully if it's that it might resolve in time.
Really hope he starts to feel better soon

I would ask for a referral to gastroenterology
