Teething and cold!!

10 mo DD just fought a weird cold last week. She got the bug from her cousin, and came down with sniffles and sneezes two days later. Two days into the runny and sneezy nose, her temp started spiking. Took her to the doctor, who checked her throat and said it's really red so she needs antibiotics. She just finished the 10 day amoxicillin round today, and now she's having the same sneezes since morning after being symptom free for almost a week!! Could it be teething?! I can see and feel her top two teeth right on the gums (haven't cut through yet but I can see and feel them on top of the gums). She has been putting her finger in her mouth constantly and today she also seemed to be licking her top gums.

All I can see online is that teething is not associated with cold symptoms, but some mums suggest otherwise. I'm so confused. Don't want this turning into another infection that requires medicine. Already went crazy worrying the antibiotics might give her upset tummy or a yeast infection! Thanks for reading!

In my experience after having 3 boys - eldest being 9 and the youngest being 2.5.. teething has caused us cold like symptoms a few times! Especially runny nose, slight temp when they've been really bad. Youngest is currently cutting his back teeth either side and he's had a runny nose and his ears are bothering him!
Have you tried teething grabules/bonjela and a little bit of calpol? X

@Adeleex thanks for the response. Here in the US we have homeopathic teething drops which I do give her time to time. Teething gel doesn't seem to do much for her. And since she's not particularly grumpy I haven't given her any medicine or pain relievers. But it is the sneezing that's bothering me. I was cooking lunch today and the smoke from the spices made her cough quite some. It's driving me nuts. I'm hoping it goes away, whatever it is. And I hope it doesn't turn into a fever. Fevers really freak me out!

When I have a cold, I'm quite sensitive to spice smells, and it will cause me to sneeze and cough like no tomorrow! My other half LOVES a spice lol.
Gels such as bonjela here in the UK doesn't seem to work as well as the granules we have. Everything you say in regards to licking gums, chewing on fingers, sounds like teething. And she is at the right age so I'd lean more towards that. I'd also imagine after 10 days of antibiotics that she wouldn't need another lot so soon as they're not great for anyone especially so young so close together. Bless her! Of course if she spikes a major high temp and any more worrying signs, then of course get her seen to. I hope she feels lots better soon!! Xx

Thanks @Adeleex for the good wishes! She's so tiny, we really need all the prayers we can get.
I did speak to a family friend who is a doctor over the phone, and also to a telehealth doctor and both agree that it seems viral in nature, could be the same virus or maybe she picked up another bug. Though the family friend is a mom herself and she agrees that it could be teething. It's a wait and watch game. Sigh.

@Buttercup129 that's children for you, haha. They can be such a worry!
Teething can cause so much else to go on, it's a "your guess is as good as mine" situation!
Keep in there mumma, youre smashing it xx
