CMPA - difficulty getting prescribed milk

Hi all. Sorry if this is a long one.

I recently took DD2 (6 weeks old) to an osteopath for her fussiness. Osteopath says she's extremely constipated due to gaviscon. She also notices DD2's rash around chest and upper back. Says she could have an allergy since my baby has had 2 rounds of antibiotics. Once when she was born, then again 2 weeks ago.

I stopped giving gaviscon despite reflux and spitting up, since her tummy was causing her to strain A LOT.

She's been ok since, but crying a lot because of reflux. She only likes it if I hold her constantly (doesn't even settle in a carrier unless she's sleeping). This isn't possible, because I have a toddler who also had CMA.

However, DD2 started having really runny poos yesterday and every single one has been like that since.

Went to gp today who agrees she has an allergy but didn't prescribe a hydrolysed formula despite the fact I told her I combi feed??? She just told me to stop bottle feeding and breastfeed only. I'm happy to eliminate dairy from my diet, but at night I need my husband to take over a feed so I can get some rest. Also DD2 is attached to the breast. Even when she falls asleep she just wants to stay latched. I've tried bedsharing whilst bfing but in that position she comes off breast and then wakes up unless she's held and rocked to sleep. Expressing isn't an option since I simply don't have the time.

Anyways my question is, has anyone had any difficulty getting prescribed formula from the gp? I never had any issues with my first.

Not me but my friend had to present at A+E to get it prescribed.

I breastfed and similarly my husband gave one bottle at night to my first and was prescribed neocate formula no problem. Can you just ring your GP and ask for a prescription and explain again you are combi feeding?

Locally, I believe the paediatrics nutritionists commence it, and the gps take over the prescribing once initiated.

I did with my first because I was bf mainly. Ended up just bf but it took a toll on me The baby was 7 months old and I was so anemic the gp could tell by looking at me. Child had eating issues so wasn’t doing well on solids either.
Second also had cmpa but hospital prescribed the milk due to weight loss.

Thanks all for your responses.

I think I'll try calling gp again tomorrow and if they continue to refuse I'll ask them to refer me to a dietician but who knows how long that'll take!

She did say that if DD's symptoms don't improve in 48 hours then to go to A&E, but I've had enough of hospitals 😭
