Bed wetting alarm, worth it and which one?

Morning All,

Feeling slightly jaded after a night on the sofa after DS (age 7) managed to wet both my and his bed (am in fact on a different sofa as he's now on the one I started on after the latest wet bed).

He's not really ever been dry at night, despite no potty training issues. He does have some urgency during the day (won't go for a while, then has to go urgently and again c ten mins later).

Saw GP last week and she just said to put him back in pull ups and that he'd get there eventually. But he's very self conscious about them (which is why we took them away, also because I wasn't sure if not feeling wet was making a difference) so I've been looking into options on the Eric website and on here.

Alarms seem to be the next step but am somewhat concerned at the price.
Can anyone recommend one and any tips for using them? He shares a room with his older brother, so I have some concerns about him waking. Having said that, I'd be prepared to pay if I thought it would help. We currently manage maybe one out of seven dry nights so even a few nights would help (and the lower laundry bill
would offset the cost).

Any hints gratefully received, thank you!

We used Therapee - it worked, but honestly the first week was rough, don’t do it if you have school or work the next day as it’s hard going. It took a week to make a real difference to frequency, then a couple of months later she was pretty much dry every night. I just moved in to her room for a few weeks, seemed the least disruptive way to deal with alarms - she had to be strongly encouraged to wake when the alarm went off even though it was fantastically loud and woke everyone else.
All the advice was wait and see but I really couldn’t see how she was going to get from a full pull-up every night to dry and she had school trips coming up and wanted to go on sleepovers. She was 7 rising 8. I’m really glad we did it. Good luck!

@CaledonianSleeper Thank you for taking the time to reply, and sorry I missed it, I came in to check and just spotted it. That's helpful to know re the noise, thank you. He shares a room with his brother so we will need to think that through, am less concerned about the impact on us as he usually comes in with us once he's wet the bed, so I'm used to being disturbed, but don't want to wake his brother. Am also starting a new job next week, so the timing clearly needs some thought too! Based on your advice. I think we might need to leave it until after Christmas, a bit too much going on between now and then. Better to know that now, though and really helpful to know what to expect and that it did eventually work for you.

Thanks again!
