Hello :)
This may be a long post so bare with me. Looking for anyone who's experienced similar or can offer advice, feeling very anxious and more then frustrated for not being able to help my little girl :(

So several months ago my 3yr started complaining of tummy pains and a random swollen lymph node in her neck. We put it down to a bug/possible constipation, ended up treating at home with lactulose which didn't helped. She had already been seen previously about the node and told it was commode for kids to have random swollen nodes. Anyway, after nearly a week or so of these intermittent tummy pains (belly the belly button) we took her to the gp. He requested a stool sample. I'll note now that her paternal side of the family all have gastro issues varying from IBS, celiac to crohns. The calprotectin stool test came back with a level of 135....so gp refered her to paediatric consultant.

We waited nearly a month for the referral to come through! I rang and complained, so the referral was expedited eventually. All the while my little girl still complaining of tummy pains, and still always below the belly button.

She eventually saw a consultant at the beginning of August. He had a feel of her abdo and said he could feel stool in her bowels and prescribed movicol. Said it would give the clear out she needed and the pain would subside. As a precaution he order another stool sample and a blood test and also a scan of a the swollen lymph node on her neck.

So looking at her records today I can she her tests have come back. Her calprotectin levels have dropped to 88. But her platelet count is 414 (150 - 400) and her eosinophils is 1.01 (0.03 - 0.08) so both ever so slightly elevated. Waiting on the consultant to ring to discuss but I'm not sure if he's waiting on more blood work to come back.

She's still in pain, some days better than others. So times it seems mild and I can distract, other days we have sobbing, pulling her legs up and grabs her abdo.

In herself she has days where she doesn't want to eat meals but will graze, or not eat at all. And other days she ways like she's starved. She looks well in herself, but does seem to catch every cough, cold and bug going. It's just this constant discomfort. She's been on the movical since 2nd August....surely if it was just a case of constipated it should have cleared by now?

Any experience, thought, Dr's who can shed light?

From one very tired, worried and emotionally drain mama xxx

The stool test does indicate v v mild inflammation. It is often a battle to get very young kids diognosed with IBD unfortunately and they wouid really rather avoid colonoscopy etc at her age .. however that's really the only way to get a diognosis / or to rule it out.

celiac test should have been done

they need to monitor and repeat stool tests as my son's stared very low then went sky high (he has UC)

regardless, she shouldn't have to live in pain .. lymph nodes raise if the body is fighting something - the usual bugs or inflammation

you have to fight for an actual explanation - she shouid be referred to the gastro department not an all round paediatric doctor.
