Poo issues with nigh on 5 year old

Ds is 5 in a week or two and started school this year. He has been in nursery since before 2.

Potty trained at about 3. He had issues with constipation about 18 months ago requiring disimpaction with movicol. This meant he often small bit of poo in his pants because he often had to push so hard to get poo out he would start before going to the loo, if that makes sense.

this is now quite well managed on a maintenance dose of movicol, and for the last year he has reliably been going to the toilet, probably only 2 small accidents in that time. We often help him with bottom wiping at home while he builds confidence.

Since starting school he has been coming home pooey every day, and even when at home will poo in his pants instead of on the loo.

To begin with we suspected he was getting caught up doing stuff at school and missing signs, not wanting to stop what he was doing etc. But that is more on a month now, and is is happening at home.

He isn’t constipated, the poos are very soft so I don’t think it can be a constipation issue. Sometimes he says he doesn’t know it is coming, but again this hasn’t been the case previously. Sometimes he says it hurts, but that would be case whether on the loo or standing in the living room. Sometimes he was busy playing. All sorts of reasons.

i have a telephone call booked with the nurse tomorrow, but I just wondered if I was missing anything?

That's overflow, he needs disimpacting again.
