Best face wash for pre-teens?

Hi all, DS is approaching 12 and I'd like to get him a gentle face wash as his skin is starting to get a bit oily and he's grown his first spot. Both DH and I grew up in "just use soap and water" households, plus I never really had many spots so I don't have any personal experiences to draw from. Google is throwing up so many suggestions that I'm rather lost.

Can anyone give me any recommendations?

DD really likes the Aveeno face wash.

Following! I read somewhere (& subsequently bought) CeraVe cleanser… my tween only uses it when I remind her, but I’m not sure she needs it daily…

And then what about a moisturiser? Is it part and parcel of starting a cleansing regime? So hard to tell - don’t want to mess up her youthful complexion (which it totally wasted on her, btw - that saying is so true!!!)

This! I use the gentle oat cleanser and it's great for my sensitive skin.

Thank you all, I'll look out for Aveeno.

I know what you mean about the youthful complexion being wasted on them!

I've never managed to start and stick to any sort of cleansing routine past soap and water (which I know isn't ideal) so I'm going to have to do a lot of reading quite soon I think.

I am nearly 50, and have never done the whole cleansing and toning and whatnot routine. My skin is great. I really don't think it is necessary. I have a tween, and if their skin gets a bit break-outy, I will look at something to help, but in general, I am not planning on starting them off down the route of constant spending and fussing. I think it's marketing hype.

My boys like dermalogica clear start, they use just the face wash and moisturiser.
