Help- DD hysterical from threadworms

Poor DD is 4 and has threadworms- we got her medication yesterday morning but she’s sobbing her eyes out from the itchiness tonight and I can still see worms coming out of her bottom. Should the medicine not have kicked in by now? Is there anything else I can do for her? Have been wiping with a flannel and applying a cream the pharmacist gave us but nothing seems to give her any relief and I feel awful for her

Just adding incase anyone needed some advice I was advised with my child before that you can basically plug the area with a cotton ball, it worked very well and stopped the worms coming out at night.

Also, just to add to all the excellent advice above, please don’t forget to trim your DD’s finger nails as short as you possibly can (and keep them short) to try to prevent any reinfection.

Absolutely Vaseline- it stops the sensation of the crawling/ itching whilst the medicine works. As a HCW I always advise this to parents.
