Car’s boot closed in my sons head!!!

i closed the car boots in my 3 years old head and I didn’t realise he was behind me. I took him straight to A&E and they monitored him and said he is okay. He is very active and normal. However, since the accident he has been wetting his bed at night and leaking urine. I am freaking out. Is it linked. Am I just over thinking. Should I take him back again?

he has no other symptoms except bed wetting and leaking urine at night!?

How long go did it happen? I wouldn't take him back to a and e but why don't you ring gp and talk it through? Was he having no wet nights before? Not even a couple here and there? Soemtimes when I'm anxious everything seems worse and I forget things that help me rationalise. I think if I was ypu I'd ring the gp today.

Mboor · 23/09/2022 13:26

I don’t know if it’s normal
he is two active. Keeps bumping his head everywhere. He bumped his head in my chin. I don’t know what to do. He does have a flu, which caught yesterday but I don’t know if it’s the cause.
this is exhausting!

If he isn't himself you need to take him back. Especially if he has become clumsy but wasn't before.

AriettyHomily · 23/09/2022 13:57

When did it happen? What do you mean leaking urine?

Mummy2mybear · 23/09/2022 14:04

Take him back and tell them what you are telling us you know your child this is definitely a cause for concern to me don't let them fob you off. Poor thing.

Mboor · 23/09/2022 14:08

OP take him in get an appointment tell the GP all the side effects things that are concerning you, poor little love I cant imagine you must have been frantic I hope you are both OK but these things its always better to be safe ❤

dampgreg · 23/09/2022 14:24

He has the flu? If he's ill that's more likely why he's bed wetting as he's only three. I'd get a gp appointment not a&e

Mboor · 23/09/2022 14:40

This happened Sunday. And today we are Friday. He is active and playful but abit clumsy. I am worried about bed wetting more than anything because he never had bed wetting issue for 6 months plus. He is abit constipated too and they gave him movicol so I don’t know. I don’t know what To do

Ring the GP! No one on here has the answers. He's a baby with odd symptoms a week after a bang to the head. The GP will decide whether they need to see him today or not. Ring them now.

SleepingAgent · 23/09/2022 15:18

What you do is phone for actual medical advice, not post on MN.
Sheesh.

ladydimitrescu · 23/09/2022 15:24

You need to have him seen, no one here can safely diagnose your child.

Basheter · 23/09/2022 16:20

I am going A&E now
thank you for your replies.

Mummy2mybear · 23/09/2022 20:37

All the best OP your doing great it's one of those things. The fact you posted your concern show's your doing a good job mama. I'm sure most of us have been through similar worries with our little one's let us know how you get on 💐

Iizzyb · 23/09/2022 21:50

OP agree to see your gp again but the wet bed and leaking urine are symptoms of constipation. GP's are not always the best at treating this.

ERIC charity and Bowel & Bladder UK charity have materials for parents.

If the bowel is very full, it gets stretched and it starts to fill the space where the bladder is which means the bladder can't hold as much as it used to hence wet beds and accidents as can't hold it & less time to get to the toilet.

There are also NIHCE (?) guidelines on dosages of movicol and for disimpacting a constipated child.

Really recommend you get some info from one of the charities xx

Just came back from A&E they said all his observation are good and he looks too well from him to have Brain injury. They felt his belly and he is still constipated. Woow you can be constipated for two weeks. This is exhausting. I tried everything for his belly to work but still constipated. They said to increase dosage of movicol so I will do that.

I think I’ll get white hair by the time he start school. Haven’t slept for more than 48hrs.
thank you all for replying. I feel better tonight. I think I’ll try to sleep since I know his head is okay.

That's such good news re his head. Make sure you mix the movicol with the right amount of water, make sure he has plenty to drink (ds 9 has to have 1800ml of fluid per day) and regular, relaxed toilet sits will help but there is lots of guidance on those websites and they both have helplines.

If he is having wee accidents it might need disimpaction (very high dose of movicol to clear the bowel) but you'd need to do that under the supervision of a GP.

Our GP's were useless frankly. I don't think it's particularly unusual. ERIC were life changers frankly. He's really good now.

Hope you slept well xx
