Heart murmur and anaemia

At the GP yesterday with my nearly 3 year old as he's had some unexplained vomiting episodes.
The GP found a heart murmur and asked if anyone had mentioned before. They hadn't and his chest has been listened to countless times.
He previously had anaemia and was on an iron supplement which really helped and they stopped it 5 or so months ago. I'm now wondering if he is anaemic again.
The GP didn't mention that anaemia could be causing the murmur, and I didn't ask as I was kind of in shock a bit. I've googled since and it appears that onset murmurs can be caused by anaemia. I'm assuming onset as no-one else has ever picked it up.
Has anyone had experience of this at all? Fully appreciate I'm googling and putting 2 and 2 together when perhaps I shouldn't.
GP is organising a referral to a paediatrician.

My son was very anaemic earlier this year and one of the side effects I described to the doctor was being able to feel his heart ‘fluttering’. My son had awful fatigue, dreadful brain fog, and no appetite. He was pale and had a sore develop at the side of his mouth too. In his case it was the after effects of a really horrible virus he had prior to Christmas but it really shocked me how severe the effects of anaemia were on him physically and this, combined with his post viral fatigue, has really knocked him for six. I feel like I should add my son is a great eater so was definitely getting iron from his diet but it just wasn’t enough following illness.

Has the doctor prescribed iron? Could you get a scan too? We ended up pushing for lots of blood tests for our son to rule out anything potentially long term (he gave us quite a fright when he was poorly as he was like a different child). We have been told that although our sons anaemia is now resolved they think he is also suffering with post viral syndrome so will still need to manage his energy levels for a while longer. Our GP recommended giving him an iron enriched vitamin to top him up too so we’ve been going with that and a spatone sachet a few times a week (paranoid about it coming back)

Heart murmur detected at 3 years old, GP referred to cardiology and my daughter had a hole in her heart which went undetected from birthll

I had this with my dd (14), we to the gp as she'd been feeling unwell, he listened to her heart and said it might be due to the heart murmur she has. My dd got really upset, as did I, as we'd never been told about a heart murmur before. We got referred to a specialist at the hospital and it turned out she was anaemic and this is why the gp could hear a murmur. Now we've got the anaemia sorted the murmur has gone.

Turns out there are 2 types of murmur, one cause by anaemia, and one by a physical hole. In children, 9 times out of 10 it's die to low iron.

Thank you for the responses, really appreciate it. DC has ferritin of 22, so lower than it should be. Has been prescribed iron.
We've now seen the cardiologist and they've confirmed it's an innocent murmur, so hopefully the iron should resolve it.
