Ds who is 11. Has ongoing nausea. He has had full blood count done. Liver and kidney check. Sugars in blood checked.

other things I am considering are lactose intolerance, celiac, or helicbacter infection. None of these have been checked yet. Back to doctor on Monday to discuss.

also considering if it may be he has developed a condition where worrying about it causing this. He doesn’t have any actual worries or stress at the moment though, is happy at school after about 11am

Is he vomiting or just feeling sick?

Morning vomiting in children is a red flag and needs further investigation. Not to worry you but don't be fobbed off if that is what's happening.

Tumtr · 03/09/2022 14:06

No. It’s just nausea. No actual vomiting

Is it post-covid?

Tumtr · 03/09/2022 14:21

No it may have all started with a gastro bug. We tested for covid and it came back negative

Very very rarely morning vomiting can be a symptom of a brain tumour. I am not sure if nausea without vomiting might be as well. I stress again, very very rare. But as you’re seeing the doctor, I would ask if this needs to be ruled out.

goldfinchonthelawn · 03/09/2022 14:24

Have you given him worm tablets? There was a worm epidemic at DC's primary and unless I wormed DC, they would get queasy.

Has he been camping? DC came down the giardia from drinking dodgy water from a campsite. That can cause nausea. Worth ruling it out.

Tumtr · 03/09/2022 14:25

Yes it did start after camping trip

The symptom is only nausea though. He doesn’t really get sore tummy’s or diahreah

Hadn’t thought of worm. Do symptoms line up with that ?

Personally I would ask for an MRI. Morning nausea is a red flag symptom in a child.

Tumtr · 03/09/2022 18:16

I don’t know if he fits the criteria for having an mri. They don’t just do them if parents ask for do they? I could look into a private scan maybe. Were you thinking a full body mri? What is morning sickness a red flag for?

A brain tumour. Not to worry you, it almost certainly won't be that, but if it were my child I would want to know they'd ruled that out.

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2022 19:54

DC went through a phase where he was sick/nauseous in the mornings and we started getting him to have a dry biscuit as soon as he woke up and it seemed to have sorted it. GP checked him out and thought it was probably reflux or really low blood sugar. Didn't help he used to get up and have a big drink on an empty stomach.

How is he now my daughter is saying the same doctors said maybe due to her hormones and she could be starting her period soon.

Tumtr · 30/04/2025 10:19

It has actually settled now. Never got to the bottom of it.
