7 week old cold!

Hi all

Bit worried. My newborn seems to be sounding like she has a bit of mucus accompanied with a slight cough. Is it normal to have a cold at 7 weeks? I'm a bit worried. Her temperature is fine.

Hi,
Yes it happens. As long as your little one remains feeding at least half of normal, having wet nappies and is not struggling with breathing then just monitor.
gets worse then get checked out.

Thanks so much @Gizmo79

She is feeding sleeping and having wet nappies as normal

No problem. Where I work we are always happy to cast an eye on a baby if you are worried. ( we also like a baby cuddle), so if anything does change then get her looked at. Have a Google at bronchiolitis, very common and mostly can be treated at home. (Not saying that is what your little one- but the advice is the same for all respiratory illnesses in babies). Congrats by the way!

Thank you so much! It's people like you who are undervalued, cannot explain how much it has helped me as a new mum to have someone to help me with things like this.

I have text my health visitor and have been told to keep an eye on symptoms. It sounds like she has flem in her nose and she is coughing just occasionally. No loud breathing. I have also been told to feed her more frequently as she may want more fluid.

Me and DP have stupidly been sleeping with x2 strong fans on in our bedroom due to the hot weather where our DD is currently sleeping with us so we think that may have dried the air out for her!
