Around 6 weeks ago my son caught a cold like virus , lots of snot bit of a cough . 2 weeks ago he was still had a wet cough only in the mornings, so I took him to the doctors and told he had a chest infection . 1 week of amoxicillin and told if still coughing to go back. Went back last week and was told his chest was clear , and the cough would go by itself.
He's still coughing and it's now been 6 weeks and I'm starting to worry a bit .
The strange bit is, he only coughs until about 10 am .. once we're up and put he rarely cough during the day or at night.
Any thoughts or advice .
(Were actually over from Spain as my mum is undergoing chemotherapy , so initially getting him a docs appt was a nightmare)

I'm currently going through the same with my 12 month old who also went on amoxicillin for a sore throat but the cough has been there for nearly 6 weeks now. What's your child like during the day? My baby seems quite lethargic the last few days which is a concern for me and a GP call back is due Tuesday. Did they mention asthma to you? Morning coughs are apparently a symptom.

asthma? Particularly may be symptom of hayfever or allergy (feather pillows?) as well so maybe worth trying an antihistamine whilst waiting for more doctor input

I would get him an inhaler

My DS had about a year of getting a cough that seemed to last ages after each cold ( it was height of Covid so getting a doctors appointment not that easy) before he was finally diagnosed with asthma.

Does asthma cause a wet cough ? As he definitely brings up phlegm. He's completely fine during day. Its just the first 2 hours of the morning

Asthma is a dry cough not a wet one with phlegm. This sounds like some sort of infection?
