Anyone know where I can get a decent syringe?

Dd has medicine twice a day by oral syringe and I'm so sick of buying the bloody things. I know they're made to be single use because patients can't share them but we do wash and reuse them as it's just dd. Even then after about the third use the lines start washing off making them unusable.

They are cheap to buy but the amount of plastic we must have used and thrown away just in the past year would be shocking to see.

There has to be a decent, reusable medicine syringe somewhere in the world right? Even the capol syringes are better but I can find how to buy them without buying multiple bottles of Calpol???

There’s lots around. These are pretty good and the lines don’t wash off easy. oralsyringes.uk/shop/10ml-oral-syringe/

Wow they make big promises, a year of uses! Thank you. Have you used them yourself to test them?

I got some from Boots pharmacy, they last in the sense that they don't break and the lines stay clear, unfortunately DD likes to nick them to use for crafts or do silly things like eat a yoghurt/jelly/custard pot/milkshake..

Ask at the pharmacy and they will generally give you some for free.

If you buy them online, make sure you get medical/food grade, as some are craft grade which means they may have chemicals on them that aren't suitable for consumption.

Is the medicine one you need to be really careful of the exact dosage? Our calpol /neurofen ones are knackered but I find I can pull up roughly the right amount by eye.

Vet syringes are really good

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes have to be very exact with the dose and the pharmacy does give us some for free but they are even worse, the rubber bits get stuck after a couple of uses. (Medical is thick and awful, probably the meds fault rather than the syringes themselves)

I haven't tried boots but might be worth a look.

We syringe medicine into dd twice daily, it is really thick sticky stuff. For us the key to making the syringe last is a thorough wash in hot soapy water. Otherwise the whole thing clogs up.

I agree the calpol ones are the best but as we need a non standard measurement we got some syrimed ones from our pharmacy which are same style with 0.1ml markings.

Not for a full year. I’m a paeds nurse working with sick kids at home and a couple of families use these and they last well. No bung means they don’t get stuck

I've ordered from that site in the right size for dd. @Anunusualfamily Thank you.
