Ptosis causing infections?

My little boy (3) has a mild-moderate congenital ptosis in one eye. He is due at the eye hospital again this week, it's been very very delayed due to covid. He had periorbital cellulitis in that eye earlier this year, and in the last few weeks, has had a couple of episodes of pink inflammation in the affected eye which disappear the next day.

Dr Google doesn't bring up anything with ptosis causing inflammation/infections (but lots the other way around), does anyone have experience? I'm not super concerned about his sight, he doesn't have a lazy eye, the eyelid doesn't cover half the pupil, and if he has vision problems (easily checked at his appointment) he is compensating for it well. Glasses are not a big deal if he needs them this time. I am concerned if this is going to cause long term infection issues or need surgery though.

For info, I had a congenital ptosis which I corrected after intense muscle exercises in my teen years. Now it's only apparent if I'm exhausted or very drunk...

I wonder if he has an incomplete blink in that eye. The blink action is very important to clear debris - including bacteria from the eye.
Can you check to see if he’s sleeping with one eye open slightly?

@underneaththeash yes he does sometimes sleep with that eye slightly cracked open. You think that could be it?

Yes, could be. Mention it at the hospital next week, you may need to tape the eye shut (just with a little bit of tape) or put a drop in on awakening, depending on the severity.
