20mo first sickness and temperature not coming down

We've made it to 20 months without DD having any sickness bug or temperature, until the last few days! Now feeling bit bit unsure of what to do and after some advice...

She was sick in the early hours of Sunday and once more on Sunday afternoon, though no temp. Seemed fine yesterday then woke this morning quite grumpy and very thirsty. Then after her post lunch nap woke up upset and boiling hot, with a temp over 39.

I've given her Calpol and stripped her to her nappy. She's a bit quiet and clingy and mostly wants to watch TV but does have some interest in toys etc. She's had plenty to drink and eaten quite a bit of fruit. The thing that worries me is that her temp has barely come down with the Calpol. It went under 39 briefly but is back up over 39 a couple of hours after the Calpol. Is that worth a call to 111, even though she's not presenting as particularly unwell?

Have you tried nurofen as well?

Happened to me, took to walk in centre, referred to hospital. Taxi arranged for me as temp not responded to paracetamol/ibuprofen.

Thanks both. I managed to get her a GP appt before the end of the day fortunately. Definitely nothing wrong with her lungs as she screamed all through it! No sign of infection in her chest, ears or throat although her throat is a little red so Dr thinks probably just a viral thing. Keeping her dosed up alternating Calpol and Ibuprofen. I think it will be a long night!

Bless you, so horrible when they are ill. Yes, viral infection diagnosed to my baby. Nothing they can do really unless baby is drowsy and vomitting. He/she will be much better very soon, they are so resilient. X
