Eczema from living next to main road

Has anyone else experienced this?

Our 8mo suffers from terrible eczema flare ups, we went away to the coast for a week and it completely cleared up, his face looks beautiful, DH’s asthma was so much better too (we was camping on a cliff top pitched right next to the sea). We’ve been back for 4 days and it’s back to it’s normal flare up, crusty, causing ds so much irritation. We live on a busy main road over the road from a petrol station and I can’t help but worry that the eczema is like this because of where we live.

It is well known that air pollutants are a contributory factor to conditions like eczema. Have thought it could be something in the house though? Like dust/dust mites?

Every time we go to the coast our daughters eczema improves. I suppose it's a combination of her getting her skin out into the sun and benefitting from the uv rays, less pollen and pull toon with the breeze coming in off the sea and her being more relaxed and being distracted from her skin.

We actually gave UV treatment a try through her dermatologist and it really helped but she's a teen now and doesn't want to.

Pollution not pull toon lol

Did your child actually go in the sea? I always found my childrens eczema cleared up within 24 hours of sea swimming

Could be quality of water too, water hardness really affects excema.

Thank you for the replies, very interesting.

Im gutted because we was meant to sell our home and move to the coast but had to take the house off the market and now we’ve missed the boat as sales in the area have fallen.

Has anyone else experienced blisters like this on baby’s feet?
twice now in warm weather after sitting in the garden in the evening these have appeared on the same foot in the same place.
initially thought 💭 insect bite the first time but now they are back. Doctor prescribed ointment for eczema.. but admitted that she didn’t really know the cause?! They don’t seem to bother her, they bother me more. No blisters anywhere else, no fever. No contact with the sun directly. 🤷‍♀️

Pompholyx excema from soaps or washing detergent? Made worse when it gets hot. Steriod cream is the only thing that gets rid of mine. Please go back to the GP though as that is quite alarming on such a little foot!

Like a PP said are you sure it’s not the water? Also recommend palmers cocoa butter💕 Keeps mine from flaring xxx

I'd think back and look at diet, anything you didn't have on holiday that you usually have at home?

Jojo8247 · 16/08/2022 15:40

Thank you I’ll get this checked

Jules912 · 16/08/2022 20:33

I find my kids eczema and DS's asthma actually get worse when we go on holiday to rural areas. Eczema I assume is because we're outside more with all the associated sun cream etc, but was surprised his asthma was worse.
