Hy.. My 1 year 6 months fell and hit the toilet corner and now has a dent on his forehead which shows so much and so bad when he cries and frowns and even smile, the dent has been here for a week. When you touch it it is curved inwards. I want to know if the dent will dissappear, or maybe heal abit and not show too much and when should I expect changes to this dent. It is worrying me I feel bad for this.

Mine’s 18 and still has a little dimple from when he hit his head on a chair. It’s only noticeable to those of us who know it’s there 😊

After how long did you start not noticing it and was it quite noticeable after the incident.. After how long did it decrease in size.. I am sorry for many questions I just don't want it to show this much.. It makes me feel like a bad parent

Are you going to bother taking your child
to the doctor? Or do you just care about what people think?

OP did!

My son did this when a young toddler on a radiator.
He doesn't have it now! That said I'm not sure how long it took to go. Maybe a couple of months.
It happens! Try not to beat yourself up about it. I do understand though, I did for years!

Thank you very much dear I will try to not concentrate on it much and hopefully it will dissappear with months.

Are you going to bother reading the thread? Jesus. So presumptuous and rude!

You need a second opinion. Babies bones are soft and can bend rather than break and this may be a ping pong fracture. Did they do a CT scan too? It looks like a minor one but they should have referred you to check that there's no further issues. I only know this as it happened to my DD and I took her to A&E

Did it end up healing... I only took her for x rays... Is x ray not enough?

It was a bit deeper though so may be different but we were given two options to either leave it (and it would stay as it was and wouldn't pop out by itself) or operate and we opted to operate. It couldn't be seen with her hair but I couldn't leave her with a dent. A doctor has checked it and I assume has said to just leave it but it may be worth getting a second opinion especially as it's bothering him.

OnlyEverAutumn · 09/08/2022 11:55

@Francinah21 it has always been noticeable to me and still is. Especially when he smiles. No one else has ever mentioned it.

i think posters telling you to see a doctor weren’t sure from your original post that you’d done that. Pretty sure you don’t need to see another doc if he’s been x rayed.

ElementalIllusion · 09/08/2022 11:57

My DD did a similar thing as a toddler on the corner of a wall,
she’s 13 now and still has the dint in her forehead, although it’s so close to her hairline you can’t really see it unless she has her hair in a ponytail.

it did go down a lot but never went away, although it looked bloody horrific when she first did it, it literally looked like her there must have been damage to her skull, fortunately she was fine.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 09/08/2022 12:18

I am in my 50s.

I fell into the fireplace when I was fairly small (no fire on thankfully) and stotted my head off the corner of the fancy grate.

I still have the dent.

Do you think it will get better in the coming weeks?

Ds did something similar when he was small, I couldn't believe there wasn't a massive hole in his skull, I still don't understand why he had such an obvious dent in his head. He doesn't have it now, I honestly can't remember, it must have just faded away. I've just gone and looked at him again, he thinks I'm weird, there's nothing there to see. It was a few years ago now, I can't say how long it took to go.

Crazycrazylady · 09/08/2022 13:02

My ds has something like that on his cheekbone. I took him to a specialist who said the deep tissue was damaged and while it would never go away it would appear smaller as he grew.
To be honest now it's like a dimple on his cheek and I hardly notice it .

Francinah21 · 09/08/2022 13:05

Thank you guys I think since his small it will heal even if it doesn't dissappear completely.. Cause apparently some are here to stay evn though my wish is that it dissappear.. Thank you very much

So with time I'd decreases in size?

It gradually faded, and I stopped noticing it as much. It was very slightly dipped to start with, but his forehead is now completely flat. It’s hard to say how long it took to go, but it was a long time. I have photos spanning quite a fair period where you can see it. Then it took a while for it to disappear when he laughed or cried. We are talking months not weeks. The body is amazing at healing itself, especially at a young age. Fingers crossed it will be the same for your DS. Please don’t feel bad. It was an accident, and these things happen.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 09/08/2022 13:43

No OP. It hasn’t changed with time.

The dent is still there. I feel it every time I wash my face. In photos it just looks like a tiny shadow - not that I have many photos taken.

It is pretty much a quirky bit of the forehead lines these days.

No one is perfect my flower. I have a face that has had many things happen to it and it is far from beautiful.

My face tells my story and as long as I have a smile and happy eyes, it pretty much looks acceptable. Honest. Flowers

Francinah21 · 09/08/2022 12:46

it probably will,

but my DD’s, once the bruising healed after a week or so it didn’t get any better, and it’s been like that for 12 years.

User639921 · 09/08/2022 14:26

DS hit his head when he was about 1, he had a small dent at the side of his forehead which I particularly noticed because he hadn’t much hair. Was checked at hospital, all ok. I think the dent just filled in over time as I stopped seeing it. He is 30 now. It is very worrying at the time though

User639921 · 09/08/2022 14:34

Your eyes will be drawn to this dent as mine were but others won’t really notice it. It probably took a few months or year or so before it disappeared or I got used to it and of course with DC other stuff happens as time passes so that incident fades into the background and another takes it’s place

Francinah21 · 09/08/2022 16:46

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with...will see if darling son dent will heal in the coming months.

My dd dinted her cheek at 18m took a few month to disappear. No lasting effects

35965a · 09/08/2022 16:48

Dents can be permanent, they do improve but I know of people my age with dents from hitting their heads as children. Usually not noticeable now unless you feel them. If you want to get a second opinion then certainly do.
