Blood after poo

Need some advice please.
My DS is 10. He has just been to the toilet and his bottom was covered in bright red blood. He had already flushed so I couldn’t see whether it was also in the toilet. I’m finding it difficult to understand whether this is bleeding from his bottom or a bloody poo.

He is fine in himself, no stomach upsets although he does eat a GF diet. Nothing eaten out of the ordinary. This is the first time this has happened. I’ve had a little look at his bottom and can’t see anything obvious where the blood may have come from.

I’m panicked though, can anyone advise? Do I need to call the GP? Sorry if I sound irrational, I just worry about things like this when I can’t see an obvious cause ☹️

Bright red blood is most likely from a small tear or cut rather than the bowel/poo itself as bright red means its fresh. Has he been constipated at all lately? If he's otherwise well I would say you need to do anything urgently, but get him to let you know next time he's going so you can have a look. If he was to have diarrhoea with blood in it that would be worth getting checked more urgently. Obviously if you're worried at all get in touch with your gp!
