Baby has explosive diarrhoea and keeps reinfecting himself

My one year old has really bad diarrhoea for over a week and been to the GP about it, who took a sample and told me to wait until Friday.

Thing is I thought mine was gone, but I've got it again full force and pure water (sorry tmi). But every morning I wake up to him playing in his cot, he's taken his sleeping bag off and smeared the poo all over his sheets, taken the sheet off and it's all over his cot and his comforters and dummies. It's even in his hair and on his face! (Think he may have eaten some)

I'm waking him up during the night and changing his nappies but still get woken up at some point with this horrific scene.

He was suppose to have surgery yesterday and it got cancelled due to emergencies. But they're wanting to reschedule him asap, and I really want this cleared up before he has the surgery, but think he just keeps reinfecting himself! Any ideas how I might be able to keep him in his sleeping bag to stop him playing with his poop?

Very unlikely he will be reinfecting himself from his own faeces

Pretty sure he can't reinfect himself. Probably just the bug taking a while to go. So much washing though!!

Get some probiotic powder from the pharmacy for him - diarrhoea wipes out your gut flora & the result is more diarrhoea

Reinfecting himself isn't really a thing. But to stop him smearing or playing with it, put a sleep suit on him back to front, so that he can't get into his nappy. You might need to cut the feet off first.

Agree he isn't reinfecting himself but obv it's still pretty grim

You're going to have to get on top of stopping him messing. Which means some combo of sleeping bag / poppered vest / inside he can't get into easily and you or DH getting up earlier , even if you then dose in his bedroom or put him in with you so he's not alone
