Puberty starting early?

My lg is almost 8years old, she is tall and heavy and developing already. She has small breasts developing and recently oily skin (blackheads on nose) and 1or 2 spots on her chin. Been using a deodorant for a few months as starting to smell when she sweats. Today she showed me a couple of long hairs down below that are growing too.
I’m now worried about when her periods will start as she’s so young, anyone else been in this situation and when did periods start? I was 11 and though that was early!!

Have a word with your GP? I think starting before 8 is considered early for girls.

My 10yo had the early signs you describe at that age. Still no periods through as that comes later.

Mine was 7 years old. Breast buds showed up and I brought her to the doctor. In third grade she had hair under her arms. We started hormone blocking therapy. She has a chip in her arm that lasts for a few years. The doctor said it’s tough for kids to look much older than they are and they will be treated as if they were older. Not good for my child because she is very young acting.

She is ten years old now and is the 94th percentile for height and 85th percentile for weight. The other girls are now starting to develop so she’s blending in.

Definitely talk to your pediatrician and if she thinks it’s a problem she should refer you to a endocrinologist. Although I do think 8 years old is the beginning of normal age for puberty. It just depends on her history and when it actually started.

Premature puberty can be indicative of excessive testosterone production which in turn can be a symptom of more serious conditions, so definitely worth getting a blood test.

If she’s that far developed before age 8 then I think this may count as premature puberty and I would see a GP for investigation and possibly treatment if deemed appropriate.

Could just be premature adrenarche, x-ray, blood test and ultrasound can be done to check

Thanks everyone I’ll give my GP a call
